The Parade in Oadby will be partially shut to traffic for up to four days, starting on Monday, July 29. Severn Trent Water has been granted permission to dig up the road to carry out some work underground.

The closure will affect a very short stretch from the junction with Chestnut Avenue up to the Post Office. But it will mean no traffic will be able to pass through from the A6 to homes and businesses further along The Parade and drivers will have to use New Street instead.

Leicestershire County Council said in a statement about the closure: "A temporary traffic regulation order is to be made for The Parade, Oadby, between Chestnut Avenue and The Post Office. The purpose of the order is to allow Severn Trent Water to safely facilitate sluice valve chamber rebuild works.

"The order will incorporate a temporary road closure. The duration of the restriction is not anticipated to exceed a period of four days commencing on July 29, 2024."

The details will be confirmed by the council nearer the time.
