Sick pranksters' image of 'Grenfell Tower memorial candle' goes viral online

The vile image of a fake Grenfell Tower ‘memorial candle’ has been shared widely on social media.

The photoshopped image, which shows the burnt out tower block with a lit candle wick on top, was posted on Facebook page ‘Hallmark for A**holes’.

The sick image was published alongside the caption ‘Grenfell Tower memorial candle £4.99’, and was shared more than 100 times before it was removed.

Readers reacted furiously to the image, with one writing: “You are all a bunch of f***ing scumbags. How the f*** can you think people burning alive in a fire is actually funny.”

Some found it amusing, however. One member of Hallmark for A**holes – which has more than 228,000 followers – shared the image with his own caption, “funny as f***”.

‘Hallmark for A**holes’ defended the decision to post the image and encouraged one “disgusted” commenter to unfollow the page if they weren’t happy, adding: “I WILL be posting more of it for the people who see the humour in it.”

In response to another outraged poster, Hallmark for A**holes responded: “Hahahahaha, pretty sure I won’t be jailed for a meme, you cannot legislate taste… take your meds and shut the f*** up.”

At least 80 people are known to have perished in the Grenfell Tower fire, which began on June 14.
