Police have located a ‘significant number of cannabis plants’ at an address in Northam.

Officers are investigating a drug operation at an address in William Street in Southampton.

The bust comes after a series of drug related raids were carried out at addresses across the city in recent months including in Shirley, Millbrook and other in areas across Hampshire.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “Police executed a warrant at an address on William Street in Southampton at approximately 2.40pm on Saturday 22 June.

“A significant number of cannabis plants were located inside the premises and an investigation is currently ongoing.”

Previously, the force has stated it is committed to tackling county line drug operations across the Hampshire area and asked residents to report any suspicious activity.

On June 18, officers investigating drug supply raided a house in the Millbrook where class A drugs were found, as well as three mobile phones, drug paraphernalia, a knife and more than £1,000 in cash.

During the raid, a 28-year-old man from London, who was inside the property during the time of the search, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Speaking to the Echo at the time of the incident, a spokesperson for the force said: “The arrest forms part of our wider work to disrupt the supply of drugs in Southampton.

"We would ask people to keep reporting any information about drug supply in your area to us.

"You are our eyes and ears on the ground, and the information submitted helps us build up the bigger picture about what is going on so we can take the appropriate action.”

The drug related raids also come after a series of arrests made in May.

An Italian restaurant on Shirley Road was raided by police last month on May 3, with six people on suspicion of being concerned with the supply of Class A drugs.

A 29-year-old woman and five men aged 18, 22, 32, 34 and 44 were arrested by police after a “significant” amount of suspected class A drugs was located at the restaurant.
