What did you miss?

Silent Witness' viewers were worried for Jack Hodgson (David Caves) in Monday's episode after student Vanessa (Maeve Courtier-Lilley) made a move on him.

Initially his niece Cara Connelly (Rhiannon May) had introduced Vanessa - who she wrongly believed was her friend - to her uncle. The forensic scientist promised he would go over their answers on the crime scene with them once they had a go themselves first.

Things take an unexpected turn when Vanessa met Jack at a bar and hits on him, consequently the forensic scientist tried to let her down gently - but Vanessa doesn't take the rejection well leading to fans fearing she would accuse him of something he didn't do.

Viewers know something is possibly going to happen because early on Vanessa had told Cara that she thought her uncle was "hot" and wants to see him again. Soon after meeting Vanessa at the bar, Jack soon begun to wonder where his niece was.

He questioned her: "Where's Cara?" Vanessa lied to keep Jack at the bar saying that she would be here in time and he bought them both drinks while they waited for Cara to arrive. Then she tried to change the conversation from Cara so that she can flirt with him. "Are you from Ireland?"

Jack received a text from his niece innocently asking when they can both go over the homework with him - sparking alarm bells and he knows that Vanessa now has lied to him. "Are you sure Cara knows about tonight?" He asked her, giving her a chance to explain.

She told him, "Of course." At this moment, Vanessa made a move on Jack saying: "I like older guys. They've got... I don't know, more depth." Jack responded saying it was time for them to leave. "We need to reschedule," he said. "Cara couldn't make it. It doesn't seem right."

Vanessa hit back: "Why did you ask me out?" But Jack doesn't fall for it saying: "I didn't ask you out and Cara knows nothing about us meeting." Jack walked out the bar after he announced: "I'm gone." However, social media was awash with comments from fans expressing their concern for Jack following the scene.

Among the comments, one person wrote: "Vanessa is going to be all sorts of trouble for Jack I feel. If not in this story but in a future episode. Jack showed sense but I still feel he's heading for trouble. Silent Witness."

And added in a separate tweet: "Jack was the most sensible I have ever seen him there with Vanessa. But I fear she will accuse him of harassment or assault. If not next episode then later in the series. The way it cut away before Jack left too. Silent Witness."

More fans shared their thoughts, writing on social media platform X, "Jack. Stay away from Vanessa. Silent Witness" and "Vanessa stay away from Jack, you b****. Silent Witness".

"You know I could say Vanessa you’re wasting your breath and she is, but tbf if he was sat in front of me, I'd do the same so. Silent Witness."

"Already have a feeling Vanessa isn't to be trusted." And another person wrote: "Vanessa is a messer! She'll mess up Jack's life for sure."

Later, Jack told his love Nikki (Emilia Fox) all about what has happened and she reassures him. The forensic scientist tried to break it to Cara gently by telling her Vanessa isn't her friend but his niece gets upset.
