The team at one of Glasgow's top shopping centres is set to welcome back pink flamingos and plenty of family fun this summer - with proceeds going to a charity in the city.

Organisers at Silverburn are promising the return of its Flamingo Beach will be bigger and better for 2024, with even more fun things for kids to do.

Open 10 am-5 pm daily from today (Monday, June 24 until Tuesday, August 20), children can play in the golden sands and build sandcastles in Flamingo Beach located in Silverburn’s main atrium.

The team say that as well as the beach, which is larger than last year with more seating areas for adults too, guests of Silverburn can spot the giant pink 8m tall flamingos positioned throughout the centre.

A new giant nesting flamingo has also joined the flock for 2024, ready for "shopper selfies" in the Winter Garden.

Admission to the beach costs £3 per child for 30 minutes, with all proceeds going to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, which will also be selling merchandise to raise much-needed funds.

General manager of Silverburn, David Pierotti, said: “We are always keen to offer guests entertainment and memorable experiences during their visit to Silverburn. Our flamingo summer was a huge hit last year and it is back with a bang for 2024.

"We welcomed over 20,000 visitors to the beach and raised a whopping £41,000 for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity in 2023 and we hope people will be as generous this year.”

Head of partnerships at Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, William McGowan, said: “Flamingo Beach was such a colourful and fun activity at Silverburn which raised an amazing sum of money and made an incredible impact in supporting the services of our charity.

"We’re sure the beach will be a popular attraction once again and look forward to welcoming even more families this summer.”
