Simon Cowell To Take Legal Action Against Gary Barlow's New Talent Show?

Eek, handbags at dawn, things are about to get messy…

In case you missed it, Gary Barlow recently revealed that he is launching a brand new TV talent show on BBC One in a bid to find five singers to form the ultimate Take That tribute band.

However, it has now been reported that Simon Cowell is less than impressed by Gaz’s new venture and is even considering legal action if the new show - ‘Let It Shine’ - is too similar to his own talent shows.

Ooft, you’re not afraid of a little healthy competition, are you Si?

The 56-year-old is said to be concerned about possible infringement of laws protecting the show formats and he has already raised his concerns about Gary’s project including mentors, as seen on The X Factor.

…And also on The Voice….

He also wants his legal team to check whether it copies his South American show 'La Banda’, which searches for singers to form a band.

An insider told The Mirror: “Simon’s team is keeping a close eye on Gary’s show.

"They want to make sure that it’s completely different to his own projects – otherwise there could be trouble. As the trailblazer in the TV talent show sector, it’s no surprise Cowell wants to protect his brand.

"He keeps an eye on all the developments in the industry as they could impact on his business.”

Simon is no-doubt all the more keen to keep an eye on Gary after he hired the Take That star to replace him as a judge on The X Factor back in 2011.

Gary left the show after one series and Simon publicly blamed him for the fall in ratings, leaving it safe to assume that the two aren’t exactly bosom buddies.

'Let It Shine’ is due to launch later this year and will be presented by Graham Norton and Mel Giedroyc in an eight-week prime-time Saturday night slot.

May the best talent show win….
