Frank Miller's neo-noir comic series Sin City is being adapted for TV.

According to Deadline, the writer is to re-team with Robert Rodriguez – who previously co-directed the 2005 film with him – after closing an agreement with Legendary Television.

The plan is for a Sin City TV show to happen, plus an animated prequel series based on Miller's graphic novels. Rodriguez and Miller will produce, but it's not yet clear if they'll also direct either of them.

Silenn Thomas, who acts as the head of Miller's production company, and Stephen L’Heureux, who produced sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For back in 2014, are also on board as producers.

Miller and Rodriguez's anthology film starred the likes of Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen, Carla Gugino, Rosario Dawson, Elijah Wood, Benicio del Toro, Brittany Murphy, Jessica Alba and Bruce Willis, earning rave reviews upon its release.

It was nominated for a Palme d'Or at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.

This isn't the first time news of a potential television series based around the graphic novels has surfaced.

Back in 2017, Miller was developing a live-action small-screen retelling with former The Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara.

Sleepy Hollow producer Len Wiseman was attached to the project, too. However, it never seemed to come to fruition.
