One very lucky winner in Michigan is ringing in the new year on a high note!

Lottery officials announced that a single ticket matched all six numbers drawn on Monday night, winning the $842.4 million prize, which is the fifth-largest Powerball jackpot of all time.

It was the first time the jackpot has been won on New Year’s Day since the lottery’s inception in 1992, officials said.

The winning numbers (white balls 12, 21, 42, 44, 49 and red Powerball 1) lined up on a ticket sold at the Food Castle of Grand Blanc, which is located outside of Flint, according to The Detroit News.

“What an incredible beginning to the New Year for Powerball!” Drew Svitko, Powerball Product Group Chair and Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director, said in a news release. “In addition to our big jackpot winner, there are hundreds of good causes supported by U.S. lotteries that will receive further funding from this jackpot run. Thank you to our players for making this possible! Happy New Year!”

The prize has a cash value $425.2 million before taxes.

Two tickets, sold in Florida and Texas, also matched five numbers with the Power Play for $2 million, while four other lucky winners in California, Connecticut, Florida and Maryland matched five numbers and are set to collect $1 million, according to lottery officials.

The drawing was the 10th largest in U.S. history, according to Powerball, and had been growing since mid-October.

The lotto winners, which included an emergency room team, later picked up their winnings at MiddleCoast Brewing in Traverse City.

"Everyone in our club is ecstatic," Bossert said. "This prize is a nice bonus for all of us around the holidays."
