Sir David Jason flanked by bodyguards after 'credible threat' is made against him

Sir David Jason has been spotted arriving on his ‘Still Open All Hours’ set with two body guards following reports that a “credible threat” was made against the 77-year-old star.

Security are keeping a close eye on the TV legend, with vehicles even tailing him on and off the BBC set.

The Sun have also reported that show bosses have put a cordon up after the crew learned that Jason’s safety is at risk, with the ‘Only Fools and Horses’ actor being targeted by “a rouge nutter”.

A source told the publication: “Production and security have been told there has been talk of a real threat.

“No one is taking any chances.

“Security is extra tight compared to previous years and he has two suited guards who follow him everywhere.

“They even follow his car when he leaves the set.

“The road they film on has been barriered off halfway along and sometimes even blocked with a van.”

Jason plays grocer Granville in ‘Still Open All Hours’and is currently filming in Doncaster, South Yorks, where the show is set.

The show is the sequel to ‘Open All Hours’, which the star appeared in alongside Ronnie Barker between 1973 and 1985.

A spokesperson for the BBC said of Jason’s safety risks: “We couldn’t comment on security matters.”
