Following the sad passing of Sir Roger Moore, the James Bond star is going to be celebrated in cinemas, with half the proceeds going to UNICEF.

The newly restored 4K re-releases of 1977's The Spy Who Loved Me and 1981's For Your Eyes Only will screen across the world from May 31, with ODEON cinemas hosting in the UK.

Fifty percent of the proceeds will go to UNICEF, the charity for which Sir Roger was a Goodwill Ambassador.

The news was announced via Sir Roger's Twitter account with a statement from James Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

It read: "In honour of Sir Roger Moore, we are delighted these Bond screenings will benefit UNICEF which was the charity closest to his heart."

Gary Barber, Chairman and CEO of MGM added: "Sir Roger Moore left an indelible imprint on audiences worldwide.

"There is no better way to remember Roger's legacy than bringing back his iconic performances as James Bond to cinemas across the world while aiding UNICEF, the charity he steadfastly supported."

Moore's death following "a short but brave battle with cancer" was announced by his three children Deborah, Geoffrey and Christian on Tuesday.

Leading tributes was Sir Sean Connery, who looked back at his off-screen relationship with Moore in a statement to mark his friend's passing at age 89.
