Skunk Anansie’s lead singer Skin has announced she’s becoming a mother for the first time.

The 54-year-old Weak star, real name Deborah Ann Dyer, is expecting her first child with writer Rayne Baron, who is known professionally as Ladyfag.

Confirming the news, Skin said that she’s excited about the new arrival, after keeping the pregnancy secret for the past seven months.

"We have two months to go. It’s exciting and I’m trying to get as much done as I can, as once the baby comes I won’t be doing anything else for a while,” she told OK! Magazine.

The star admits that considering her age, she wasn’t ever expecting to become a mother herself, but had helped raise a child in her previous relationship and loves having kids around thanks to her large family.

"I never wanted to have a baby myself, in my own body. But I love that someone else is going to do it," she said, adding: “Kids love me because I’m silly.

“I’m excited about dressing up a little baby in ridiculous clothes while we can!"

The rocker has not revealed the gender and plans to keep it private for the time being, stating she hopes the tot will grow to "challenge themselves" and be positive.

Skin and Baron got engaged during lockdown, though it is unknown how long they have been together for.

"Lockdown has been a real test of a relationship," she explained on the Elevenses With Danielle Perry podcast.

"A lot of people are like, 'Wow, we really didn't get on and that was the end of that relationship, because I realised in two months of being in lockdown that we're not the same people.'

"And some other people, like me, got engaged,” she added, before realising: “You know what, I think you're the first person I've told. Oops!"

The pair have since taken to calling each other “wifey” on Instagram.
