Glasgow food fans are in for a treat as the hugely popular Smokey Trotters Kitchen expands to a new location in the city centre.

Famed for their stacked burgers and sandwiches, nuggets, wings and fries, the street food faves are taking over the kitchen at Nice N Sleazy - and they revealed they'll be adding some plant-based versions to the new menu too.

He said: "The place is a Glasgow institution and I’m buzzing about us working together.

"We’ve been in talks for a couple of weeks, and last night it was confirmed we were taking over the kitchen."

Smokey Trotters took the street food circuit by storm before taking up base at 233 London Road, where their epic offerings have seen them go viral on many an occasion.

The always-enterprising Robert Lorimer - or Big Smokey as he's perhaps more commonly known - continues to build on the success of the brand that found its first permanent home in the city's east end in 2021 and has grown from strength to strength since then.

Following up spots in Golf Fang Glasgow, Golf Fang Newcastle and Celtic Park - where he is set to add a second unit starting this season - Robert confirmed that Smokey Trotters will take over the Nice N Sleazy kitchen on July 5.

Robert said: "We’re moving quick on this one with just under two weeks from agreement to trading, but we’re used to working under pressure and doing things with little notice."

When it comes to the menu, Big Smokey confirmed that food fans can expect the usual award-winning burgers, loaded fries, and fried chicken, with the addition of some vegan options for this venue.

Speaking about the importance of the plant-based additions, he added: "There’s more demand in this site for vegan food as they’ve had a few vegan pop-ups in there.

"People have come to expect some vegan food here so we will go with that demand. We will adapt a few of our dishes to accommodate and we will bang out some tasty vegan scran along with our usual popular menu items."

And there's another reason the top foodie thinks the partnership will work very well.

"Myself and the chefs are buzzing to get into Nice N Sleazy, cracking spot and a great match for Smokeys," he added. "At the London Road venue we’re known for using Buckfast in dishes such as the pulled pork and the brisket.

"We serve water in Bucky bottles and use them as vases for our flowers on tables. Sleazys is known for selling Buckfast by the glass - c'mon, that’s meant to be! Expect a Smokeys cocktail to go with your scran."
