Hampshire's primary mental health charity, Solent Mind, is deploying a new 'Thrive Inside' campaign to promote self-care routines.

The campaign is designed to assist more residents in focusing on essential areas like self-care, physical activity, sleep hygiene, and fostering connections.

The charity will unveil helpful tips, advice, and services throughout May. The initiative comes as mental health service demand intensifies across Hampshire's communities.

Last year, Solent Mind aided over 44,000 locals, with anxiety and depression being the most frequent mental health issues, affecting one out of every four people.

The debuted campaign will run concurrently with Mental Health Awareness Week from May 13-19, drawing special attention to the importance of movement for mental well-being.

Highlighting the benefits that even the slightest everyday movements can have on overall health and contentment, Solent Mind seeks to help residents discover what techniques work best for them.

Aiming to make a significant difference, the 'Thrive Inside' campaign is an instrumental step towards supporting mental health in Hampshire.

Sally Arscott, CEO of Solent Mind, said: "The number of people locally who are experiencing a mental health issue is continuing to grow, making our purpose to ensure everyone can develop positive mental wellbeing, live well and thrive ever more important.

"We know how much of an impact self-care, sleep, movement and connection in particular can have on people’s mental health, and so we hope our new ‘Thrive Inside’ campaign will help more people improve these things for better mental health.

"Physical activity and movement are a vital way to support people to live well and stay well, but many people who do want to move more are being held back by their mental health. However, the best thing about physical activity is that it doesn’t have to be intense.

"We’ll soon be announcing a new partnership with another locally based organisation for an exciting Southampton city-wide initiative, which will aim to connect people and movement for better mental health."
