Two Somerset hotspots have been named among Britain's top 25 most beautiful views. A survey of 2,000 Brits was carried out by Prospectus Global on behalf of Isuzu D-Max.

The survey saw Britons rank their favourite viewpoints which then was converted into a percentage. Cheddar Gorge has ranked third out of the 25 hotspots.

The Somerset beauty spot received a total score of 25 per cent alongside St Michael's Mount in Cornwall and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, both in Scotland, which placed joint third on this list.

Coming in joint eighth position were The Roman Baths, in Bath; Stonehenge, in nearby Wiltshire; the Shambles historic street, in York, and Ben Nevis, Scotland with 20 per cent.

Somerset has successfully outranked the Cotswolds which placed lower down the list with just 15 per cent. The Cotswolds are famed for their English charm with chocolate-box villages like Bourton-on-the-Water, Bibury, and Castle Combe, "where time seems to stand still."

However, Cheddar Gorge is home to incredible views such as its jaw-dropping cliffs and extraordinary subterranean caves. According to the British Geological Survey, Cheddar Gorge's cliffs support many valuable habitats that are home to a wide range of rare plant species. Likewise, Stonehenge and The Roman Baths are known for their rich irreplaceable history.

George Wallis, head of marketing at Isuzu UK, said: "Our findings paint a picturesque portrait of Brits' affection for UK beauty spots. From the majestic shores of Lake Windermere to the colossal charm of the Giant's Causeway. It's clear everyone celebrates the stunning scenery and historic gems that make our nation shine."
