Southampton Summer Sessions cancelled tonight - this is why

Singer Paloma Faith has cancelled her show in Southampton.

The Only Love Can Hurt Like This hitmaker said she is incredibly upset after cancelling her Southampton Summer Sessions gig that was due to take place in Guildhall Square tonight.

The Brit Award winner said her voice had been severely affected after suffering from exhaustion and catching various illnesses from her children.

In a statement, she said: “I'm incredibly upset and disappointed to announce that I need to cancel my show tonight in Southampton.

“After suffering from exhaustion and catching various illnesses from my kids my voice has been severely affected and my range is compromised.

“I have sought advice from medical professionals, they have advised that I need to rest my voice and that means I've had to cancel tonight's show.”

She added: “I'm so sorry to everyone who bought tickets, I've loved being on the road and seeing all your gorgeous faces and I'm gutted I won't be dancing with you tonight.

“There will be other opportunities in the future, I’m sure.”

Southampton Summer Sessions has stated ticket holders will receive a full refund from Ticketmaster automatically.

Support act Kojey Radical will also miss out on performing at tonight's cancelled event.

The news comes after Tom Jones, Madness, Nile Rodgers and Chic, Placebo and Air have all headlined the three-week music event outside Southampton Guildhall.

There has been no word on whether Paloma Faith will also have to cancel her scheduled performance at Glastonbury this weekend.

The UK chart topper is due to perform in front of thousands of fans at the famous Pyramid Stage on Sunday evening.

Whilst Glastonbury will be in full swing, Loyle Carner and Kaiser Chiefs will be performing in Southampton this weekend, with the latter closing the Southampton Summer Sessions on Sunday.

Loyle Carner will bring his brand of hip hop music on Saturday night, being supported by Dweller.

Royal Otis and then Spielmann will support Kaiser Chiefs the following day - with concert goers anticipating the indie rock band from Leeds will play a collection of their well-known hits including I Predict a Riot, Ruby, and Never Miss a Beat.
