SpaceX Delays Launch of Falcon Heavy as Lightning Strikes Seen Near Launch Pad

SpaceX was forced to delay the launch of its Falcon Heavy rocket, as severe storms battered the east coast of Florida on Thursday, April 27.

Video recorded by livestreamer LabPadre shows a lightning strike near the launchpad of the heavy-lift rocket. LabPadre told Storyful that the lightning appeared to strike the lightning rod of the launchpad.

In a statement, SpaceX said it would reschedule the launch for Friday, April 28. The mission will send a ViaSat-3 Americas satellite into orbit.
