St Helens polling stations for general election 2024

St Helens is split into two constituencies at the general election.

Established in 1983, St Helens North covers the north of St Helens borough, as its name suggests. It includes parts of the town of St Helens, Billinge, Seneley Green, Earlestown, Blackbrook, Haydock, Newton-le-Willows and Rainford.

At the last general election, Labour's Conor McGinn was re-elected to represent St Helens North with a 52.3% majority. Mr McGinn had served as the seat's MP from 2015 but announced he would not stand in this election, having been suspended by Labour in 2022 and leaving the party the following year.

The former leader of St Helens Council David Baines will represent Labour in the constituency at this election.

The St Helens South and Whiston constituency was created for the 2010 general election. It has been held by Labour ever since, with Shaun Woodward and then Marie Rimmer representing the constituency in parliament.

For this election, the constituency has undergone some boundary changes, with parts of Whiston and Cronton becoming part of the new Widnes and Halewood seat.

Marie Rimmer has represented St Helens South and Whiston since 2015, having previously served as leader of the borough council. She will stand again for the Labour Party in this election.
