Stabbed police officer 'will make a recovery'

The police officer stabbed by a machete in Leyton is "seriously injured but will make a recovery". The officer was out on duty when he stopped a vehicle for not having insurance. Police say the driver then attacked the officer with a machete, stabbing him in the head and body, before the officer deployed his taser and stopped the assault. Detective Chief Superintendent Richard Tucker says the whole incident was caught on a body warn camera but is still urging any witnesses to come forward. The driver, who did not require hospital treatment, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and taken to an east London police station.
