Stacey Solomon, the proud mother of five and Loose Women panellist, has sparked speculation about a potential addition to her family. The ITV star celebrated her son Rex's fifth birthday on Thursday, May 23, but not before hinting at some exciting news on her Instagram story.

Stacey revealed that she and husband Joe Swash had met "some very special little ones." suggesting their dream of becoming foster parents might be close to fruition.

The announcement came as Stacey shared a beautiful image of a field near her home while enjoying her morning coffee. "Rexy woke up at the crack of dawn super excited", she wrote.

She continued, careful not to overshadow Rex's big day: "me and Joe took him to school and did the other school runs and then went off to meet some very special little ones... which I'll tell you all about tomorrow. But it's something we've talked about and thought about for a long time and finally it all came together. But today is Rexy's day.", reports the Mirror.

Both Stacey and Joe have previously expressed their interest in fostering, largely influenced by Joe's mother Kiffy, who is a foster parent herself. Their experiences with Joe's foster brother Daniel have given them much to consider, leading them to view fostering as a viable option for expanding their family.

Joe Swash, the former EastEnders star, has expressed his interest in becoming a foster parent alongside his wife Stacey Solomon. He said: "It would definitely be of interest to both Stacey and I", as they've seen the positive impact his mum's fostering had on young Daniel.

Stacey, the host of Sort Your Life Out, agreed with her husband's sentiments during a recent episode of her show where she met an adoptive couple. She said: "It's such an incredible thing to do. Joe grew up in a home where his mum fostered and Joe's always said when our kids grow up and move out, that's what he wants to do, so I get it."

Joe first mentioned the idea of fostering on the Netmums Podcast last year, saying: "Fostering is something that me and Stacey have talked about and would love to do. We'd love to foster, we'd love to give something back, you know? It is something that we definitely want to do, when our kids get old enough that they're not as reliant on us."

The couple, who tied the knot in a cosy ceremony at their Essex home, Pickle Cottage, on July 24, 2022, share three children together - Rex, 5, Rose, 2, and one year old Belle. Joe also has a son named Harry, 17, from a previous relationship with Emma Sophocleous, and is a stepfather to Stacey's two older sons, Zachary, 15, and Leighton, 11.
