Stacey Solomon reveals 'massive rows' with boyfriend Joe Swash over ISIS bride Shamima Begum

Stacey Solomon has revealed that she is in the middle of “conflicts” with boyfriend Joe Swash over whether ISIS schoolgirl Shamima Begum should be allowed back to the UK.

On Wednesday’s edition of Loose Women, Solomon was embroiled in an intense debate with Andrea McLean, Kaye Adams and Janet Street Porter over the decision taken yesterday to revoke Begum’s British citizenship.

A viewer poll revealed that 93 per cent agreed with the decision but Solomon soon explained that she could see both sides of the argument, including Adams’ argument that Begum is being used as a “distraction” by the Home Office.

And Solomon revealed that the debate over Begum and her newborn son, who are currently in a refugee camp in Syria, has actually been the source of several rows in her household with Swash.

The singer and presenter said: “Joe and I at home have ended up having massive conflicts over this case.

“He would say ‘well hold on a second, if this person does come back is our legal system equipped to give that person the necessary time… in prison, is it even equipped to even charge this woman? Is it equipped to even monitor this woman?”

Solomon then rebuked Adams point about “not being able to pick out one case and say it worries you” by arguing that the “law is outdated in some respects” and called for it to be reviewed.

Solomon continued that she didn’t really understand why there was a “circus” around the Begum case but added: “I do see why the general public and people at home are feeling under threat from this organisation.”

The story has been a source of debate on the ITV lunchtime show ever since it was first reported, when Carol McGiffin and Nadia Sawalha clashed over whether “only stupid people were groomed”.

McGiffin had pointed out that Begum was an A student when she ran away four years ago, aged 15, which prompted fury from Sawalha who questioned why her academic performance had anything to do with it.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
