What did you miss?

Stacey Solomon had viewers in tears as her show Sort Out Your Life Out returned to help a single dad who had lost his wife to cancer.

It was an emotional episode as the show's professional organiser Dilly Carter, 43, was diagnosed with womb cancer in 2023. She was keen to help give the family a wonderful home to live in, but confessed she was finding it hard to hear their story.

What, how, and why?

The BBC show - which helps family declutter and organise their homes - returned for a fourth series and met Craig from Surrey who lives with daughters sic-year-old Merywen and four-year-old Wren. He has been bringing up his daughters alone since wife Lois died from cancer three years ago.

Carter helped Craig go through some of his clutter as he admitted how hard it had been to confront even opening his own mail after his wife died.

Solomon later told Carter: "You are allowed to say you can't cope with this. It's very difficult and we'll just go out and get away from it for a bit. It's hard." Carter confessed: "I knew it was always going to be a tough week for me. But it's also a lovely thing to be part of this process and to help them."

Solomon said: "You're strong for everybody else and you put yourself forward for everybody else but I don't think you consider yourself and how difficult it might be for you." Carter replied: "We find it, we all find the strength within." Solomon told her: "I don't think we all do. You've got it in abundance. Take it easy."

Many viewers were moved to tears watching single father Craig and his happy young daughters talk about their mother.

One wrote on social media platform X: "This is the most heartwarming yet heartbreaking makeover I’ve ever watched. Stacey Solomon with those little girls is beautiful to see #SortYourLifeOut" Another said: "These girls are a credit to him as a father, what gorgeous girls #sortyourlifeout" A third commented: "Those two little girls are absolutely wonderful. Their daddy should be so proud of them, and himself for bringing them up. #SYLO #SortYourLifeOut" And another said: "Never thought i'd get this emotional over a decluttering show but here we are. What a lovely little family with two lovely kids #SortYourLifeOut"

Solomon's husband Joe Swash came to help her decorate the girls' bedroom and the pair had a flirtatious tiff. But he was skeptical when she said she would like the flower stickers on her own bedroom walls. Craft-crazy Solomon said: "Don't you think adult bedrooms are so boring? I don't know why. Why when you're in your thirties could you not have this on your wall." Swash replied: "It's nice to go to a nice adult bedroom to do adult stuff. You don't wand kid's stickers everywhere." Solomon said: "I don't really want to do adult stuff." Swash retorted: "Listen I can have adult time with or without you." Swash jokingly put a sticker on Solomon's face and walked off as she exclaimed: "You're an idiot Joe Swash."

Sort Your Life Out with Stacey Solomon airs on BBC One at 9pm on Tuesday and is available to stream in iPlayer.
