Stacey Solomon, adored by fans for her warmth and relatability, has previously revealed the less glamorous aspects of her celebrity life.

The multi-talented 34-year-old, who is known for her singing and DIY skills, appears to live an idyllic life at Pickle Cottage with her adorable children. However, she has never been one to shy away from discussing the personal challenges she has faced behind her radiant smile.

From a public row over her struggle with smoking to severe dental problems that left her unable to eat, Stacey has always been open about the more difficult parts of her life. Her honesty has earned her praise from many fans.

Following her episode of Stacey Solomon's Renovation Rescue on Wednesday, the Mirror reports some of the TV personality's most humble confessions....

Expensive wig

In 2018, Dagenham-born Stacey introduced her fans to 'Suze' - her reliable wig that helps her hide her 'long, grown-out roots and frizz' during TV appearances and date nights with husband Joe Swash. In a video shared on Instagram, Stacey can be seen in the bath with 'Suze' draped over her knee, creating the rather eerie illusion of a face without features.

In a video clip labelled 'wig dramas', Stacey said: "I thought my wig needs a wash and I thought, I'd bring her in the bath with me. But I'm totally weirded out right now, because my knee looks like a person without a face."

Her followers were left slightly puzzled, wondering why Stacey was in need of a wig. Not long after, Stacey penned an article for The Sun, where she divulged she'd spent £1,000 on Suze, who has been worth every penny.

At only 29, she revealed that her natural hair had fallen victim to 'years of bleaching, tonging, blow-drying and straightening' leaving it in dire condition.

Claiming Suze as her 'secret companion on Loose Women', she wrote: "People have always cautioned me about dyeing my hair too often or applying too much heat but I ignored their advice. I constantly believed blonder, straighter, slicker was the goal. This has resulted in wiry, broken strands and a scalp suffering from psoriasis. Stress-induced flare-ups make it damn itchy."

She continued: "The only way I can get my natural hair back is to stop styling it, but that's impossible. My roots are 50 per cent ash brown, 50 per cent grey. I'm in my late 20s and it's so depressing. I don't want to look really old.

"My ends are bleached within an inch of their lives so I look like I have zebra hair that fades into yellow noodles. Also, I have very thick, coarse Jewish hair so washing and leaving it is not an option."

Teeth on the brink

Stacey enjoyed healthy teeth throughout her youth, free from even a single filling. However, her dental health took a drastic turn during her pregnancy with her second son, Leighton, in 2012.

The now mother-of-five witnessed her once pristine teeth turn yellow and brown, accompanied by agonizing pain upon consuming anything too hot or cold. In an interview with Fabulous, Stacey revealed her decision to opt for veneers, comparing her real teeth underneath to 'tiny brown pegs.'

Recollecting the excruciating dental pain she experienced during her second pregnancy, Stacey shared: "I couldn't eat anything too hot or cold because it was excruciating and even breathing in cold air through my mouth was agony. If it was cold outside, which is 99.9 per cent of the time in England, I couldn't even talk when I was outside, they were so sensitive."

She continued: "Whatever was going on with me decided to settle around four months into my pregnancy, but I was left with brown, decayed teeth and, for the first time ever, I felt really down about my smile. "

Kicking the smoking habit

Stacey Solomon has been candid about the struggles she faced with smoking, especially during a time when she was expecting. A source confided to New! Magazine, "Stacey is a sensitive person and she will be upset if anyone is thinking of her in a negative way.

"She's had a lot of stick in the past about smoking and she finds it difficult. The comments can be hurtful."

The TV personality previously opened up on This Morning in 2012 about her efforts to quit smoking while pregnant with her son Leighton. She admitted that cutting down to 10 cigarettes a day was achievable, but quitting completely was another challenge.

Stacey expressed her feelings on the matter, saying, "At the end of the day, nothing that I can say makes it right. All I can say is that from the day I found out that I was pregnant, I have tried my best to give up.

"I completely understand why people would be angry, because for some people it's incomprehensible. As soon as you get pregnant, you think you need to stop. I did smoke between five and ten a day, but I completely cut down and from there on I have been trying to stop."

She added: "I'm smoking between one and three a day, if that... I just thought I would be able to quit.

"And some days I've done really, really well and had none but there are some days when I have had some. I'm doing my best to just go without, but sometimes it's not just as easy to cut it out."
