Staff threatened with screwdriver at Co-op in Balsall Common shop raid

Staff were threatened with a screwdriver during a terrifying shop raid. It happened at a store in the Co-op store in Kenilworth Road in Balsall Common, near Solihull, last month, on Saturday, March 9 at around 6.30pm.

A raider stole hundreds of pounds worth of goods, West Midlands Police said. The force issued a CCTV image of a man officers would like to speak to.

He was white man with a beard and wore a distinctive deerstalker hat, a coat over a bright red or orange top with light blue jeans and black and white trainers. He carried a phone in his right hand.

The force said: “Do you recognise this man? We're looking to speak to him after hundreds of pounds worth of items were stolen from a shop in Balsall Common, Solihull last month.

“Shop workers were also threatened with a screwdriver. If you recognise this man, contact us via 101 or Live Chat quoting crime number 20/301535/24.” Alternatively, anyone with any information can contact independent charity, Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
