Stagecoach launching digital single and return tickets in Kilmarnock
Bus giant Stagecoach is to launch single and return tickets via its app for passengers in Kilmarnock.
Customers in Ayrshire were the first in the UK to pilot the new ticketing scheme, which was rolled out in April. The pilot was limited to Irvine bus services and following the success, it has been extended to the East Ayrshire town.
Stagecoach is actively encouraging passengers to transition to the Stagecoach Bus App, in a bid to minimise the environmental footprint from paper tickets and speed up boarding times.
In addition to purchasing tickets, the Stagecoach Bus App is ideal for those who have never travelled by bus, users can easily plan a journey, find their closest bus stop, and track their bus in real time.
Stagecoach will be hosting pop-up events across Irvine and Kilmarnock and will be travelling on board local services to answer questions from passengers and demonstrate how to download the app.
Fiona Doherty, Managing Director at Stagecoach West Scotland, said: "We have a clear focus to enhance our customer experience and simplify the use of our bus services. The recent rollout of single and return tickets via the Stagecoach Bus App demonstrates how we are helping our customers move to a digital offering.
"Our team have been out in Irvine helping customers with the new app-based ticket options. We hope customers are finding the app useful and we are listening to all the feedback from customers using the app for the first time as well as from those who have been using the app for a while.
"We are committed to offering a fully inclusive range of products and customers who may not have a smartphone will still be able to purchase single or return tickets direct from our drivers.”
