Stanley Tucci spotted 'squeezing courgettes' in Cornwall

Hollywood actor Stanley Tucci was spotted visiting a local greengrocers shop this week in Fowey - and admiring the store's courgettes. The Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner has been staying in the area for the week - and popped into Richard's Greengrocer and Fishmonger every day, according to owner, Richard Dormand.

The staff were delighted upon noticing their celebrity customer - who even posed for a picture with Mr Dormand outside the shop, with the pair both beaming in the sunshine in front of a display of fruit and vegetables. Mr Dormand told BBC Radio Cornwall: "He's been here for the week, and he came in every day and a member of staff spotted him.

"My son actually, Jack, pointed him out, and I wasn’t any the wiser because I wouldn’t recognise him myself, but then obviously once he's pointed out, wow, yeah that’s the main man. He was buying fresh vegetables. I know one day Jack went out and Jack was looking because he was squeezing my courgettes."

Tucci, who is best known for his roles in The Devil Wears Prada, The Hunger Games, and The Lovely Bones, is passionate about food and wine, and often shares photos and videos with his 4.5 million Instagram followers of him in an apron, cooking up various delicious, home-made recipes.

Mr Dormand added that the actor, who has also hosted a culinary travel series, was "full of praise" for his shop, and that the two chatted about his visit to the port town - with Tucci admitting he is partial to a Cornish pasty.

The greengrocer said: "He loves his pasties. He came in yesterday morning, which is when I got the photo, and bought two pasties to take away because he was travelling back to London.

"He's just like one of us, there was no airs and graces about him. He was just going about his thing like every other person in Fowey."

It wasn't Tucci's first time in Kernow. He visited Watergate Bay near Newquay in 2021, sampling some of the food the area has to offer and even calling one restaurant's dishes "The best of Cornwall on a plate". That same year the famously foodie actor shared his favourite moments on a "road trip to Cornwall".

This week Tucci was visiting at the same time as TV and film star Warwick Davis. The actor who was in Star Wars and Harry Potter films took a snap with young fans in Newquay.
