“Star Wars ”actress Daisy Ridley meets Rey performer at Disneyland: ‘Surrealist!’

“Being IN the (top rated!) ride at Disneyland is MAD!”

Daisy Ridley is passing on her knowledge of the Force.

The actress behind Rey posted photos of herself at Disneyland in Anaheim, chatting with the cast member playing her Force Awakens character at the park. “Surrealist!” she wrote on her Instagram story, also shouting out “Philander, the best Disneyland tour guide there ever was.”

Ridley also shared a video of herself beaming at the sight of her introductory hologram in the queue for Rise of the Resistance, the premiere attraction at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which opened in 2020. “Being IN the (top rated!) ride at Disneyland is MAD!” she wrote.

Rise of the Resistance is, indeed, highly beloved by Disney Parks visitors — the wait for the ride often exceeds two hours. The Star Wars experience features a trackless vehicle system that allows riders to whip around massive First Order ships in unpredictable maneuvers, and also sees brief appearances from Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), and General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson).

Ridley was also excited by one of the park’s jazz bands performing “Ain’t We Got Fun,” which featured prominently in her film Young Woman and the Sea. “Also!!! Trudy’s song! The universe was universing!!!” she wrote in another Instagram story.

Disney’s drama Young Woman and the Sea saw Ridley portray Gertrude Ederle, an world-class swimmer who won an Olympic gold medal and swam the English Channel in the 1920s. The movie also starred Christopher Eccleston and Stephen Graham and received a limited theatrical release last month.

Ridley spoke about the film in an interview with Entertainment Weekly last month. “What's amazing about this story is many people don’t know what Trudy did,” Ridley says. “Bringing attention to her — and to her sister and what her family must have gone through in order to facilitate supporting their child at that time — is wonderful.”

Ridley is set to return to the Star Wars universe in a new film about Rey from Ms. Marvel director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. The film will be set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, with Rey attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order at a new academy.
