Star Wars spin-off series Andor was forced to scrap filming down at Winspit Quarry this week.

Used as the headquarters of Forest Whitaker's Partisans leader Saw Gerrera, this area received a yellow warning for strong winds by the Met Office earlier in the month, with the Dorset coastline being whipped by winds of upto 70mph.

A spokesperson for the National Trust shared in a statement: "The planned filming due to take place at Winspit Quarry has been cancelled due to safety concerns following the recent turbulent weather, which has increased the risk of rockfalls and landslips.

"Visitors looking to explore the Dorset coast are advised to follow signs and keep out of unsafe areas until further surveys have been undertaken."

National Trust general manager for the Isle of Purbeck, Tracey Churcher, went on to reiterate: "People should always stay well back from the cliff and rock edges, whether on or below them, and we ask people not to visit Winspit Quarry until our experts are confident it is safe to visit again."

A prequel to the 2016 heist movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Andor follows Diego Luna's Rebel spy Cassian Andor in his gritty opposition of the Galactic Empire - now in production on its second and final season for Disney+.

Apparently, show creator Tony Gilroy is feeling the pressure to "stick the landing".

He told Yahoo UK at the Star Wars Celebration: "I think it will be really intriguing to watch how audiences [take] this 'I’ll just cover four years and do these year-long gaps' [approach].

“Because there’s year-long gaps between the episodes and it’s been very exciting to work on. It was an experiment at the beginning and it’s an experiment that we think is working out pretty well."
