Avoid the question all you want, Daisy Ridley, but it looks like the mystery of The Last Jedi has already been solved - or at least, one mystery has. Namely, whether the Jedi in question is/are plural or singular.

Since the title was revealed last month, Star Wars fans have been going into overdrive trying to decipher all the clues that the official title is hiding, but the biggest block to fan theories has been not knowing whether it refers to the last individual Jedi, or the last few/many/etc Jedi.

But now, thanks to the beauty that is the intricacies of language, it looks like the 'Jedi' in question is officially the plural form - meaning multiple Jedi, not just one (like, say, Luke Skywalker).

At least, that's what the translations are telling us. As pointed out by IGN, the movie's title has now been shared in various different languages, and Star Wars has opted for the plural construction in every relevant one.

In German, for example, the title is revealed to be Die Letzten Jedi, while in Spanish it is Los Últimos Jedi (as opposed to Der Letzte and El Último).

And then there's the French title, Les Derniers Jedi, which makes three for three on the plural score.

So, as much as we're fond of our language, it turns out it just isn't very good for putting together movie titles with clarity.

Of course, this doesn't exactly narrow down who the last Jedi (pl.) actually are. We know Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) has been referred to as 'the last Jedi' before, but there's also Adam Driver's Kylo Ren, who is a failed Jedi Knight, and Ridley's Force-sensitive Rey - not to mention Kylo and Rey's recently teased "mysterious connection" - to consider.

And seeing as this title is pretty much the only piece of information we have about Rian Johnson's upcoming Episode 8, that's one mystery down and who knows how many more to go.

What we do know is that The Last Jedi will pick up where that incredible Force Awakens climax left off - and that Daisy Ridley will apparently be ditching her three-bun hairstyle in the new movie too.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will also star Benicio Del Toro, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis and the late Carrie Fisher, and will be released on December 15.
