Despite what Star Wars legend Mark Hamill would lead you to believe, it looks like actors on the upcoming Episode 9 wouldn't be able to leak any spoilers even if they wanted to.

In fact, actor Richard E Grant has even confirmed what we all knew to be true by detailing how the studio goes to "extraordinary" measures to keep their Star Wars secrets under wraps.

Speaking on today's (January 21) The One Show, Richard explained all about how Disney keeps their films shrouded in secrecy – and, honestly, it sounds like a lot of work.

"It's extraordinary," he began. "They don't give you a script, you have to go to a room where there are bodyguards outside, closed-circuit television cameras, and it's printed on crimson pages so you can't photograph it. You have to read it in there, and then leave."

The One Show host Alex Jones then asked what we were all thinking, which is 'how do you remember your lines?' and it turns out Disney has an answer for that too.

"You're given the pages on the day that you work, and you have to sign for them and sign out for them as well," Richard added. "There are security guards on the set."

The actor also shared that the production crew are on guard against drones as well, explaining that actors are hidden as they're taken to and from set so that no one will be able to get a picture of them in their costumes.

"They give you a cloak, over your head – because apparently they have drones going over Pinewood Studios so they try and take photographs of what people are playing," Richard shared.

Well, that's definitely one way to do it.

Richard E Grant is one of the newest additions to the cast of director JJ Abrams' sequel, which began production back in August 2018, and while we don't yet know who he'll be playing the film, we do know who he won't be playing.

Asked last year whether he'd be playing Thrawn, who made his first appearance in the 1991 novel Heir to the Empire before jumping onto the small screen in Star Wars Rebels, Richard quickly shut down any thought of that happening.

"I'm not playing the Star Wars character you just mentioned," he said. "I'm not allowed to tell you anything. Otherwise I would be fired. It's a complete lockdown on any information whatsoever."

The One Show airs at 7pm on weekdays on BBC One, while Star Wars: Episode IX will be released in the UK on December 19, 2019 and in the US on December 20, 2019.
