This year marks the 750th anniversary of Robert the Bruce’s birth - and North Carrick is celebrating the occasion with a fun-filled Bruce Festival for everyone to enjoy.

North Carrick is taking a step back in time to the Medieval Ages to celebrate Robert the Bruce, one of the Scotland’s greatest Kings.

With a fun-filled day of captivating history demonstrations, thrilling jousting and fun activities all for FREE, organisers say it's guaranteed to be a great time for the whole family.

North Carrick Community Benefit Company (NCCBC) has created the Bruce 750 project, a project dedicated to celebrating one of Scotland’s greatest kings.

NCCBC’s hope for this project is to increase support for local businesses through additional tourist numbers and, therefore, allow the local economy to flourish.

Robert the Bruce was crowned King of Scots in 1306 after he led Scotland to victory at the Battle of Bannockburn. North Carrick are proud to share their historical links to Robert the Bruce with Bruce Festival this summer in Maybole.

On Saturday, July 13, Glebe Park in Maybole will be transformed back in time to a medieval village as the community celebrates the life and legacy of Robert the Bruce.

A spokesperson for the organisers said: “A fun-filled day of thrilling jousting, captivating history demonstrations, and fun activities for all ages, Bruce Festival is an event you won’t want to miss, and best of all, it’s FREE!

“Learn about Robert the Bruce’s life with enchanting and immersive story telling by History Matters ltd. Try your hand at archery and axe throwing and see if you would’ve had what it took to join Robert the Bruce in battle.

“Take pleasure in hearing the unique and innovative twist to traditional Scottish music by Clan An Drumma, one of Scotland’s best tribal bands and enjoy strolling along their craft fair admiring the beautiful and quirky products the local businesses and crafters have to offer.
