Stephen Mulhern says 'why are you doing this' as he finally addresses Josie Gibson romance rumours

Stephen Mulhern has addressed rumours that he is dating This Morning presenter Josie Gibson. Earlier this year the pair were spotted holding hands on the set of ITV’s Saturday Night Takeaway while filming the final episode of Ant & Dec’s show.

Speaking to Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley on This Morning on Tuesday, May 7, Stephen, 47, was quick to shut down speculation about his and Josie’s relationship. “Listen, she didn’t turn up to rehearsals. I held her hand and I showed her where to stand. That is it, finito,” he said after being quizzed about the photo.

Speaking to the Daily Mail after the images emerged, Josie said: “I’m in love with Stephen Mulhern. There you go. But story of my life, I don’t think he loves me.” However, she has since insisted that she was only joking.

Josie told OK! magazine: “He’s so lovely. We are really good friends, I really adore him, but there’s no romance in the air. But he’s so nice.” She added: “Every bloke that I come in contact with, the press seems to think that I’m having it off with them. People must think I’m a right goer. I’m not like that.”

Following the conversation on This Morning, ITV viewers took to social media to have their say. One user of X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “I love Stephen he's f***ing great.” A second said: “Helping her to the stage, yeah sure Stephen. #ThisMorning.”
