One of Michael Flynn's first big decisions as Cheltenham Town manager will be whether or not to sell Lewis Freestone.

The 24-year-old defender has been the subject of at least two bids from League One club Stevenage, the first of which was rejected.

They have since made an improved offer for the left-sided centre-half, who has been with Cheltenham since the summer of 2020.

Flynn will have a big say on whether the most recent figure is an acceptable one for a player who has one year left on his contract at Whaddon Road.

The club confirmed on Friday that Flynn had accepted an offer to become Darrell Clarke's successor as Robins boss.

Freestone joined Cheltenham from Brighton, having started out at Peterborough United.

He has made more than 100 EFL appearances for the club and 129 in all competitions, scoring one goal.

With Curtis Davies, Sean Long, Liam Smith, Will Ferry and Ben Williams departing this summer and the loan spells of Jack Shepherd and Andy Smith ending, Cheltenham are particularly short of defenders as they begin to rebuild for their return to League Two.

Left-footed centre-back Tom Bradbury, 26, has another year to run on his deal.
