Stoke City have lodged plans to expand a car park and create a new footpath for away fans at the bet365 Stadium. The Potters announced last month that visiting supporters would be moved from the south stand to the south-east corner of the stadium from next season as part of 'atmosphere enhancing' proposals.

The club are now requesting planning permission for various external works to support this change. These works include the creation of a new internal path between the away coach park and the existing path from Stanley Matthews Way to the south-east corner of the ground.

There would also be a new two-metre high fence to segregate home and away fans, and four new CCTV columns to support crowd management. In addition, Stoke City also want to expand the existing players' car park by around 371 square metres.

According to the application submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council this would create 20 new spaces, bringing the total number at the stadium to 1,909.

The application states: "The proposed car park extension is to provide additional car parking for Stoke City players and staff on a match event. The proposed fencing and gates are to provide public safety segregation between home and visiting fans because of relocating visiting fans from the south stand to the south-east corner."

The city council is expected to make a decision on the plans by the end of May.
