Storm Downs Trees and Cuts Power Across Connecticut

Thousands of Connecticut residents were without power after a storm brought strong wind and heavy rain to New England on Thursday, October 31, local media reported.

The National Weather Service said “strong to damaging wind gusts” were forecast to impact the region Thursday night and into Friday morning.

Power company Eversource Energy said power was cut to more than 54,000 Connecticut customers as of Friday afternoon. Power was also knocked out for thousands of customers in other New England states.

Citing officials, local media said storm damage forced the closure of dozens of roads in Connecticut.
