Street taped off after nasty fight in Sheffield city centre

A man has suffered serious facial injuries in a fight in Sheffield city centre.

South Yorkshire Police were called to Division Street at 3.40am on Sunday, June 23, following reports of an assault. A 25-year-old man was found at the scene with injuries to his face and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police believe the man was injured after a fight broke out near the junction of Carver Street and Division Street. A 25-year-old man was arrested for affray at the scene.

The road was taped off by police gathered evidence from the scene. A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “At 3.40am on Sunday (June 23) we were called to reports of an assault on Division Street in Sheffield.

“When officers arrived they found a 25-year-old man with facial injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment. It is believed the man was injured following an altercation near the corner of Carver Street and Division Street.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. A 25-year-old man was arrested for affray at the scene.”
