Keeping the Strictly Come Dancing line-up a secret every year is a big deal for the BBC. With a show this glittery and OTT, you want to make a fuss of each new celebrity announcement, of course.

Each year, the team employs a series of codenames for the contestants so they can talk about them without fear of letting slip.

Our friends at the RadioTimes have not only revealed that this year's secret theme is Greek and Roman mythology, they've also revealed which already-announced stars have gone by which codename.

Going from A to Z we've got JLS star Aston Merrygold, who was codenamed Hermes (God of commerce and speedy messenger). Singer, comedian and presenter Brian Conley went by Apollo (the God of music) while Good Morning Britain's Charlotte Hawkins was called Aurora (also known as Eos, Goddess of the Dawn).

EastEnders star Davood Ghadami went by Perseus (the main guy from Clash of the Titans) while soap veteran Gemma Atkinson was called Athena (who gets up to all sorts) and Holby City's Joe McFadden was codenamed Morpheus (no, not because of The Matrix).

Mollie King, who was one of The Saturdays, was fittingly named Clio (one of the musical Muses). As the oldest contestants, Richard Coles and Ruth Langsford were named Zeus and Hera, respectively.

Then we've got Sunday Brunch's Simon Rimmer, who went by Bacchus (who was famous for his wine), while Susan Calman was named Thalia (Goddess of comedy).

Obviously there are a few famous deities missing from the list so far, like Hercules (known for his physical strength), Poseidon (God of the seas) and Hades (Lord of the Underworld). That makes us think that our final three contestants could be someone very macho, a swimmer, and someone known for being nasty on TV....

Previously, Strictly contestants have spoken about having to go by the codenames and how it was confusing when they tried to check into their hotels.

Since the codenames were revealed, another Holby star, Chizzy Akudolu, has been announced by the BBC. The rest of the line-up will be revealed on The One Show from 7pm on BBC One.

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One in September 2017.
