Strictly Come Dancing's Kevin Clifton is opening up about how dancing with Stacey Dooley on the most recent series of the BBC One show helped him through a tough year.

Speaking with Zoe Ball on It Takes Two yesterday (December 14), the professional dancer sweetly thanked the documentary maker by saying: "I just want to say thank you to you, not only just for the hard work you've put in to becoming the beautiful dancer that you've become, but I've had one of the craziest years of my life.

"You've just been so nice... I've enjoyed it so much," he added, before telling Stacey as they shared a hug that she'd helped him to "fall in love with dancing all over again" and "in love with Strictly all over again".

Though he didn't explicitly confirm what he was referring to when discussing the "craziest year" that was 2018, Kevin did split with fellow professional Strictly dancer Karen Clifton in March after three years of marriage.

He confirmed the sad news on Chris Evans' Radio 2 Breakfast Show, where he said: "We wanted to do this now and let everyone know that actually privately we're not together anymore, but professionally we are stronger than ever.

"Dance is how we came together and has been the glue that held us together for years now."

The former couple have since continued to dance together on the most recent series of the show, much to the delight of fans.

Kevin and Stacey will be fighting for the all-important glitterball trophy on tonight's Strictly Come Dancing final.

The Strictly Come Dancing 2018 final airs on BBC One tonight (December 15) from 6.30pm.
