There’s been a sprinkle of controversy surrounding the win, with some viewers calling it a ‘fix’ (what’s new) and others saying Kellie Bright should’ve won after being awarded perfect scores in her tango and showdance.

The actress received 119 points out of a possible 120 in the final, while Georgia May Foote received 112. Jay was awarded 110 points overall.

Others, though, have defended Jay, who showed himself to be one of the most consistently brilliant dancers throughout the competition - besides a few hiccups here and there.

Brushing all the upset aside, The Wanted singer has admitted he feels ‘happy and lucky’ to have lifted the glitterball trophy with his professional partner Aliona Vilani.

He told The Mirror: “I think like anything in life you can work as hard as you can but you always need an element of luck.

“This just means in my head ‘oh people enjoyed it as well’. So I feel happy and lucky and popular.

“It does feel amazing because I think I enjoyed every second of it until our last dance. All the people that held their breath or crossed their fingers for us, we ended up getting here.”

He also revealed that he might get a Strictly tattoo and that they didn’t perform their incredible jive in the final because they wanted to keep the moment as it was, ‘when it was’.

He went on to insist that, despite all the romance rumours, he and Aliona are JUST FRIENDS, saying: “Our friendship is very firm and real friendship.”

Congratulations again, Jay!
