Strictly Come Dancing: Motsi Mabuse compares Neil Jones' return as a 'renewed couple after someone had an affair'

Motsi Mabuse has compared Neil Jones’ return to Strictly Come Dancing as “having an affair”.

The Strictly pro – who is paired with Alex Scott – was forced to pull out of the show for two weeks after hurting his calf muscle ahead of the Halloween special on October 26.

He was replaced with Kevin Clifton, who was previously paired with Anneka Rice but was voted out in week three, and confirmed he would return this week on Strictly spinoff show, It Takes Two.

Jones, 37, and Scott, 35, came back with a bang and performed a Jive to Let's Twist Again by Chubby Checker.

During their feedback tonight, Mabuse said: “I feel like we’re seeing a new couple renewed. Somebody had an affair and now the light is back on.

“What I mean is – you guys feel fresh, you feel young, you feel jolly, you guys know what I mean. You know what I’m talking about.

“You were jolly, you were fun, you were fresh, and it is happening.”

The rest of the judges gave the duo high praise, with a couple suggestions of how to improve, and awarded them a total of 31 points.

Ahead of the performance, Scott said: “It’s been a frustrating few weeks for Neil. But just before we went on [last week] he said, ‘You’ve been doing great in training, don’t do anything different. Just enjoy it.’ So I did.

“I talk about it like I’m floating, because that’s how I felt the dance was. It was just so nice floating through the dance. I smiled the whole way through it.”

Later on when Jones confirmed he was dancing, she said: “That is great news. Now I can finally get my partner back, we can do this. Let’s go!”

This week sees Saffron Barker and AJ Pritchard at the top of the leaderboard with 39 points for their waltz to Your Song by Ellie Goulding.

Meanwhile Mike Bushell and Katya Jones are at the bottom with 25 points for their Paso Doble to Tamacun by Rodrigo y Gabriela.

The results show will air on Sunday at 7.20pm on BBC One.
