Strictly Come Dancing saw two high scorers in the dance off again this week, as joint third and joint fourth place couples found themselves battling elimination.

Molly Rainford and her partner Carlos Gu were in joint third place after scoring 35 points (including three nines), while Ellie Simmonds and her partner Nikita Kuzmin were not far behind in joint fourth place on 33 points (including two nines).

But they ended up in the bottom two after the public vote was combines with Saturday night's scores, with all four judges opting to send Paralympic swimmer Simmonds home and keep CBBC star Rainford in the competition.

Simmonds' Charleston to 'Too Darn Hot' had seen her achieve the same points score as Will Mellor and Nancy Xu.

Meanwhile, Rainford's Foxtrot to 'You Make Me Happy' by My Sun and My Stars had scored joint third place with Fleur East and Vito Coppola.

Head judge Shirley Ballas, agreeing with her co-stars on who to save, said: "Well, it was one of the best dance offs I think I’ve ever seen, but again the performance was a little bit stronger in this dance off and I would have awarded it to Molly and Carlos."

Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal were in the top spot once again with 38 points - which included three 10s - for their Cha Cha.

After being voted out, Simmonds said: "I’ve literally had the time of my life. It’s been the most incredible experience - life changing really. I want to thank Nikita ever so much. I’m going to miss him – he’s changed my life and confidence."

She added: "We’ve had the most amazing days. We’ve had not just dancing days – but days we’ve just spoken for hours...We went out there and danced our life out every single night and I loved it so much."

Kuzmin told her: "I love you Els, I just want to tell you every single person in this room loves you. That is just to say how much of a beautiful human you are, you spend time to go to each person inside this room, you care about everybody, you are just such a wonderful human and I am so glad I’ve had the chance to dance with you."

Sunday's episode also included a performance from Luke Evans singing 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.55pm on BBC One.
