Former Strictly Come Dancing competitor Nicola Adams has shared a sweet post on Instagram to celebrate her five-year anniversary with her partner, Ella Baig.

Nicola and Ella met in 2018 after the former had won gold medals for boxing in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics Games. Now, they have marked a major milestone in their relationship, which comes a year after they welcomed their first child together via IVF.

"We just celebrated our 5 year anniversary! It's been such an incredible journey. We've faced so many challenges and overcome them together. Last year we welcomed our baby boy Taylor into the world and we're so proud of our little family," Nicola said.

"Honestly, it's sometimes still hard to believe that we've been together for 5 years. Time just flies when you're with someone you love. We've been through so much, but we've always had each other's backs. And seeing our little family grow has been an adventure like no other."

Nicola explained that they chose to celebrate their anniversary away from the public eye. She said they are aware that "not everyone has the privilege to be out and proud" and, therefore, "cherish every moment" they have together.

She finished: "Overall, we feel so blessed to have each other and our little one in our lives. We're excited to see what the future holds for us. Here's to more years filled with love, laughter, and plenty of adventures!"

Nicola appeared on Strictly in 2020 as part of the show's first same-sex couple alongside Katya Jones. The couple was forced to withdraw from the competition in November after Katya tested positive for COVID-19.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
