Strictly fans joke Katya Jones's win is 'justice' after performing 'dancing miracle' with Ed Balls the previous year

Strictly Come Dancing fans jokes that Katya Jones’s win was "justice" after the “dancing miracle” she worked on former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls last year.

Fans of the show took to Twitter to congratulate Ms Jones and her 2017 dance partner Joe McFadden on winning the show on Saturday.

But some were quick to attribute her popularity to her partnership with Mr Balls during the previous year's contest.

Rebecca Rideal: “So here's my theory, Ed Balls actually won Strictly 2017. We all love Katya BECAUSE she was so brilliant partnered with Ed Balls last year. Just me?”

Matthew Turner said: “Delighted for Katya Jones' Strictly win. She deserved it after the DANCING MIRACLE she worked with Ed Balls last year.”

Ms Jones was teamed with Mr Balls in the 2016 series of Strictly. Despite the former Chancellor’s questionable dancing skills, Ms Jones managed to carry him through 10 weeks of the show before they were eventually kicked off.

They amassed a following of loyal fans who tuned in to watch Mr Balls bumble through tricky performances week after week

This year, Ms Jones was teamed up with talented Mr McFadden and they were crowned this year’s winners on Saturday night.

Mr Balls took to Twitter to congratulate the pair: “I said last year that @Mrs_katjones is a genius and would go on to be a Knock-Out Strictly Superstar - And here we are! Huge congratulations to Katya and the brilliant @mrjoemcfadden - such worthy @bbcstrictly Champions! I’m so pleased for Joe and so so proud of Katya!”
