Strong Peru Quake Felt Hundreds of Miles From Epicenter

A strong earthquake struck off the coast of southern Peru early on June 28, prompting a tsunami warning that was soon cancelled.

The US Geological Survey said the quake had a magnitude of 7.2, with an epicenter around five miles west of Atiquipa.

Several aftershocks were registered (see here and here).

The earthquake was felt as far away as the capital, Lima, over 310 miles north, local news said.
