Strong Winds Cause Whistling Noise on Golden Gate Bridge

Strong winds brought by an atmospheric river that pummelled Northern California with severe weather caused an eerie whistling sound on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on Sunday, October 24.

Footage by Todd Hershey captures the noise as he drives over the bridge.

CBS San Francisco Bay Area said the sound “can be heard for miles” and is a “source of annoyance” for residents after new handrails were fitted in 2020 to make the bridge more aerodynamic. Credit: Todd Hershey via Storyful
