Strong Winds and Heavy Snow Lash North Dakota

A blizzard warning was issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) for cities in North Dakota as heavy snow and wind swept through the region.

Wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph were forecast for parts of northern and central North Dakota. Cities in central North Dakota were projected to see three to 10 inches of snow, while up to 18 inches could accumulate in northern cities, the NWS said.

The weather service recorded 13.2 inches of snow at the Bismarck Airport on Friday.

Heavy snow and strong wind could break tree branches, the NWS said. It also warned of “very difficult” driving conditions and reduced visibility on roads.
