‘He’s Stuck There’: Motorist Shaken After Turtle Smashes Through Windscreen on Georgia Highway

A motorist in Savannah, Georgia, was understandably left shaken when life appeared to imitate Mario Kart on May 12, when a turtle flew through her windscreen as she drove along.

What Latonya Lark originally thought was a brick came flying through the window at the passenger side, right in front of where her brother was sitting. “I was horrified,” Lark told Storyful when she realized it was a turtle. “My windshield was shattered, my brother was covered in glass.”

Lark said she thought the turtle must have been struck by another car before smashing into hers.

The turtle was taken to Savannah Animal Care for treatment. Lark told WSAV she called to check on the turtle on May 26, but was told it had died due to blood loss. Credit: Latonya Lark via Storyful
