Student sheltered 90 birds in her home during Hurricane Maria
A student has been praised for rescuing more than 90 birds stranded in Hurricane Maria and keeping them safe in her home.
The woman, known as Michelle H, put on some gloves and rescued as many birds as she could by sheltering them in her home in Puerto Rico. Many of them had been injured in the strong winds.
The 19-year-old initially intended to save just one bird from the storm but found scores more than needed her help.
Posting on Twitter about her rescue operation, she said she fed the birds and kept them warm as they fluttered around her house.

The birds she saved were lucky - after the storm, she said she saw many dead birds on the ground who had been caught up in the extreme weather.
You are a kind and beautiful soul
