Succession season 4 spoilers follow.

Succession star Brian Cox has said he was written out "too early" in the final season.

Cox's tyrannical leader of the Roy family, Logan, was killed off of the Emmy-winning series in the third episode of the final season, leaving his children to scramble in taking over his media empire.

Cox has spoken in depth about the demise of Logan Roy on Amol Rajan Interviews on BBC Two, where he shared his feelings that Logan died "too early" in the final season.

"I was fine with it ultimately, but I did feel a little bit rejected. You know, I felt a little bit, oh, all the work I've done and finally I'm going to, you know, end up as an ear on a carpet of a plane," he explained.

The actor admitted that he took Logan's death "wrongly, as a form of rejection", even though he felt creator Jesse Armstrong handled the character's demise "brilliantly" by killing him off-screen.

Cox also took some credit for helping to prevent Logan's death from leaking to the media when he insisted on attending the filming of his character's funeral.

The actor explained that he went "on [his] own volition" to Succession's filming on the day of the funeral specifically so he'd be photographed at the scene.

The Scottish star had another reason to be visiting the set, as this episode also featured a cameo from his real-life wife Nicole Ansari-Cox as one of the mourners attending Logan's funeral.

While Logan did die early in the season, viewers have been surprised by a few posthumous appearances from the character when Logan's son Kendall used never-before-seen footage of his dad in the Waystar RoyCo product launch.

Brian Cox: Amol Rajan Interviews is on BBC Two on Thursday, May 25 at 7pm, as well as on BBC iPlayer.

Succession season 4 airs on HBO in the US, and Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
