Succession's Tom Wambsgans star Matthew Macfadyen has delivered some news regarding the third season's shoot.

Like most other TV shows, HBO's comedy drama remains on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak, leaving the future of the unscrupulous Roy family up in the air for now.

In conversation with The Hollywood Reporter recently, Emmy Award nominee Macfadyen revealed season three was originally scheduled to kick off production back in April.

Now, he added: "They're hoping to start in the autumn, but I know that a lot of shows are sort of sliding to January.

"I think it changes week to week – or day to day, really. Restrictions are put in place and then removed, so there are things that you can do and then you can't do."

Macfadyen continued: "The producers have to make really difficult decisions about whether to start or not, and whether they'll be screwed up halfway down the shoot if something else happens.

"And then wouldn't be able to do the show the way that you want it to be done, so it's tricky. But fingers crossed. I really miss it."

Elsewhere, the actor also weighed in on how Succession's characters would handle a pandemic like the one we're experiencing.

"I imagine Tom and Greg both would be terrible, terrible asymptomatic super-spreaders," he joked. "But I think Logan would be protected, maybe in a bunker somewhere in Geneva."

Succession airs on HBO in the US and is available on Sky and NOW TV in the UK.
