Ukip's policy launch on Monday didn't go exactly to plan. First the party was forced to clarify its stance on nuns and beekeepers, and then their leader Paul Nuttall locked himself in a room to hide from journalists.

After this came the inevitable social media storm, with #SuggestAPolicyForUkip becoming the top Twitter trend as many mocked the party's integration policies, which included banning Muslim face coverings and imposing mandatory medical checks on girls suspected of being at risk of female genital mutilation.

This descended into farce when the party was asked whether they would ban the clothing of beekeepers and nuns, and social media joined in.

Eventually, people began 'helpfully' coming up with policy ideas for the party.

The leader of Ukip was forced to hide as he avoided answering whether he would stand as an MP in the upcoming general election.

He eventually was ushered out of the room as the press pack followed him.

One journalist tried to make him answer by getting into the taxi outside, which was waiting for Paul Nuttall.

However, he was unceremoniously removed, and Mr Nuttall sped off, leaving the question unanswered.
